101: ‘Temporary Home’ by Carrie Underwood

Home. A word that usually brings feelings of belonging. Not always though. Here are six stories about temporary homes:

Story 1
Will often had conflicts with his mother. When he was six, it got so bad, he was temporarily taken away from her. He had to grow up quickly as he was passed from house to house, family to family, school to school. He eventually learned to see that these places were just temporary homes. He didn’t belong there and would soon move on.

Story 2
Sara’s parents had big expectations to their children. This was partly due to their mother once not having a job and had nowhere to go. She was alone with Sara’s big sister, who was just a baby at the time. She wished for a time where she and her baby can find a place in this world, instead of more temporary homes. This shaped her outlook on life.

Story 3
A very old man lies dying in his bed. He’s surrounded by all his loved ones, amongst which an equally very old woman. He tells them not to cry for him. He’ll see them all someday after all. He looks up and says: “I can see Gods face”. This life was his temporary home. And now he’s going to his real home.

69: ‘Broken’ by Seether & Amy Lee

The Creator Of It All, known to her worshippers as Mother Mary, helps her worshippers by appearing in front of them, when they are in need of inspiration and helping them handle their issues. However, she does not concern herself with what happens next – as long as her worshippers are happy. This does not always garner good results. This is among the concerns, her only son, Abraham, has.

Wanting to please her son, she tries to refocus and fix the world.

She succeeds in making the worst issues go away.

This is a lot of work, though. She no longer has the time to help her worshippers when they need her. They start missing her – and she misses them. But now the worst is over and she should have more time for them again. Problem is that their faith in her is fading.

68: ‘Say Say Say’ by Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney

Dre, a worshipper of Mother Mary, The Creator Of It All, needs her to inspire him to move on with his life after loss and help him with his music. Dre has lost his son, more recently lost a woman, whom he loved, and in general, doesn’t know what to do with his life and creative work.

But unlike so many times before, Mother Mary does not appear before him. In desperation, he starts praying, not a normal practice in the belief in her, and continues doing so every day for years for years, but at no points does she appear, no matter how much he cries. Slim, his close friend, supports him in this. He starts to lose faith in her. They love her dearly but begins to feel that she is playing with them. Maybe she has become disappointed in them and that is why she is ignoring them.

They beg her to appear. They don’t care what she says at this point, as long as she shows that she hears them. They will even give her sacrifices, if it means, she won’t have left them.

67: This Is My Worry

‘Just Give Me A Reason’ by Pink ft. Nate Ruess

Abraham, the son of Mother Mary, The Creator Of All, lives a relatively normal life, complete with a longtime relationship.

She does not see all that Abraham sees. She does not see the state of the world that haunts him. And he doesn’t want her to see it. But he can’t stop himself from talking in his sleep. Words like “had enough”slip out. So his girlfriend hears his vague ramblings and thinks it’s about their relationship being broken.

One day she confronts him with her suspicions. Telling him, how she loved him from the start and how he fixed all the wrong things about her. She tells him, that they’re not broken and can back their relationship back on track. They just have to work on it – and they should, because they are meant to be together.

She just needs to know why he feels this way.

Abraham doesn’t want to tell her, what is actually bothering him. Instead, he pretends to not understand what she is talking about, saying it’s all in her mind and due to her recent nightmares. He tells her, how dear she still is to him.

She doesn’t buy it easily and keeps insisting that it’s in fact happening.

He is not as convincing as his inspiring mother, so they end the discussion on agreeing to work on their relationship.

65: Mother Mary

‘Scotland’ by The Lumineers

The Creator Of It All is known to her worshippers as Mother Mary.

They hold on to her, because they need something to hold on to, when society gives them hell. She inspires the living and cares for the dead. She is in control of everything and everyone by the power of her words.

A man named Steven, a devoid worshipper, has just killed his wife and is about to kill himself. So she appears before him and inspires him to live on, to not give up on life.

She is powerful and difficult to understand, having little mythos surrounding her. But worshippers feels her immense power and gets strength from that.

64: Let Me Ride

‘C’mon Let me Ride’ by Skylar Grey (ft. Eminem)

The creator of it all is a woman. One day she decides to mess with a human male, who she deems as just a little to arrogant around woman, bragging up a storm about his success rate. He gets a lot of attention this way.

She appears before him and pretends to want to sleep with him, offering up using her great power to create to give him things, and presents these offers as innuendos.

He can hardly believe his luck, but tries to seduce her.

She then rejects him and mocks him for thinking that he could actually get with her. She does think he is sweet, but wouldn’t be with someone as inexperienced as he actually is. She is less found of the females actually falling for his act.

63:What Have We Done? (Beginning of the 2017-story)

‘Earth Song’ by Michael Jackson

This story happens to everyone. It happens everywhere. But it does have a main character more all-knowing than I, the (supposedly) all-knowing narrator. I’ll call this character Abraham.

Abraham is the only son of The Creator Of It All. He sees everything. Hears everything. Feels everything. And he cries. He prays on behalf of all people to The Creator Of It All. He speaks of promises of light, happiness and peace, The Creator Of It All gave based on dreams, the creator shared with Abraham. Dreams they drifted far away from.

He speaks of an earth destroyed. Of bloodshed brought on by his and The Creator Of It All’s hands. Children dead from war. Kingdoms turned to dust. Dying animals. The common man imprisoned. Death.

He asks, where they went wrong, hoping The Creator Of It All will change it and make it better.

This is the new-ish beginning, I mentioned in my last post. It’s a new story with a new focus, but it takes place in the same universe and It’ll be connected somehow. I will as always explain the important aspects of the previous story when that happens, as well as what lead to the events of the current chapter.

I’ll also empathise that, for the purposes of this blog, I don’t care what the song is actually about. I will of course respect it and use both the words and tone, but I will divorce it from its original context and twist the meaning until it fits my context. Hence this is not how I actually interpret this song. But it is what I get out of it, when I strip it of real-world-context.

I mention it here, because this is second time I deal with a song most people would respect so much they might find offence in me taking it apart and putting it back together like some sort of Frankenstein-monster, and I wanted to make it clear that it is not done out of disrespect.
