48: ‘ My Mamma Said’ by Aqua

Despite the unhappiness that infects Steven and Natasha’s marriage, Natasha stays for the sake of their children. She gives up her life so that they can have a happier life.

Gaga, the older daughter, notices her mother becoming more and more unhappy. And she wants to do something about it. She thanks her for doing it but asks her to leave.

Natasha shakes off her concern. She tells her that  the best thing in life was getting Gaga and loving her higher than anything else in this world, and the worst thing in life is getting used to loving somebody higher than anything else in this world, knowing you’re going to lose it all in time. So she wants to do this for her.

It doesn’t get easier, when Rachel, the younger daughter, is actively working with Gaga. Rachel begs for Natasha to not leave.

Natasha stays. She stays and dies a slow death. Her mind wanders to all that way her life could have turned out. She becomes passive and spends most of her time lying around – and Gaga can’t look at her without crying.

Rachel, however, keeps holding on to her mother, begging her not to leave and run away from her mind and life. To release herself from her imagination and be with her family.

Both daughters circle their mother begging her to listen to them.

44: ‘Why Don’t You Love Me’ by Beyonce

There is no love in Steven and Natasha’s marriage. And she decides to do something about it, specifically to talk to him about it. Steven however does not want to, so she has to convince him to that first: ”Now, now, now, honey. You better sit down and look around, cause you must’ve bumped yo’ head. And I love you enough to talk some sense back into you, baby. I’d hate to see you come home, me, the kids and the dog is gone.”

When him finally listening, she asks him:  ”I give you everything you want, everything you need. Even your friends say I’m a good woman. All I need to know is why? Why don’t you love me? Tell me, baby, why don’t you love me, when I make me so damn easy to love? And why don’t you need me? Tell me, baby, why don’t you need me, when I make me so damn easy to need?”

Her voice is cracking, when she reminds him, why he should love her: ” I got beauty, I got class, I got style, and I got @ss. And you don’t even care to care.”

He tries not to look at her, so she says: ”Looka here. I even put money in the bank account. Don’t have to ask no one to help me out. You don’t even notice that.”

She continues: ”I got beauty, I got heart. Keep my head in them books, I’m sharp. But you don’t care to know, I’m smart.”

His attention once again strays, so she recaptures it: ”Now, now now now now now now. I got moves in your bedroom. Keep you happy with the nasty things I do. But you don’t seem to be in tune.”

By now she is desperate to get him to see! with a voice more cracked than ever she pleas: ”There’s nothing not to love about me. No, no, there’s nothing not to love about me. I’m lovely. There’s nothing not to need about me. No, no, there’s nothing not to need about me.”

When this doesn’t work either, she realises that the problem doesn’t lie with her, but him. He’s simply not the one for him. So she says: ”Maybe you’re just not the one. Or maybe you’re just plain……. DUMB.”

31: ‘I Write Sins Not Tragedies’ by Panic! At The Disco

Harmony and Ink are talking about the future of their relationship. They talk about the potential of getting married.

Harmony remarks on how everyone would gossip endlessly about her past as a ”whore”, as they would call it.

Ink reassure her by telling her, how he would deal with it by acting it out for her: ”Well imagine, as I’m pacing the pews in a church corridor, and  I can’t help but hear an exchanging of words: ‘What a beautiful wedding!’ says a bridesmaid to a waiter, ‘Yes, but what a shame the poor groom’s bride is a whore.’. I chime in with a ‘Haven’t you people ever heard of closing the goddamn door?!’ ”

His point is that he wouldn’t listen. Having settled that, Ink concludes rationally that they have avoided any problems, they might have had and proposes to Harmony. She happily says yes. They celebrate with champagne.

29: ‘Funhouse’ by P!nk

After having rekindled the flame in their marriage, Pink and Brad’s house and life became a fun house. They loved each other and were happy with their life, their home and lake. They even had a dog.

Pink didn’t find out about Brad’s secret, and what he had done to keep it before they had been married for a long while and not before it was too late. Not before They were in the house, dressed as clowns in order to be disguised.

They came at different times, while Brad wasn’t there, slowly torturing Pink with information about what Brad had done, echoing voices laughing from behind locked doors.

Their campaign began working. Slowly, like a tickle turns into a rash, Pink began hating Brad. She felt haunted by the evil clowns. One day it became too much. She was all alone. She danced around, watching the photos depicting the lie, she had been living, suddenly noticing a taunting smirk on Brad’s face. This home was already a museum full of ash, so she decided to burn it down. She would rather live out on the street than continue living in this haunted memory of their happy life. She moved out her stuff with the help of her dance crew (known as Movers and Maids) and broke everything else: tore down the photos, mangled the key, tore down the drapes and broke the plates. She counted down and laughed as she dropped the match: ”9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, fun”.

She would find a new place to live, while Brad would think she died in the flames.

13: ‘Remind Me’ by Brad Paisley f. Carrie Underwood

Married life turned out to not be as romantic as The Old Flame, whose name was Brad, thought it would be. They longer made out in public for so long, that people told them to get a room. Brad began to worry, that it meant something was wrong. It felt like they were settling for a good relationship and missing out on a great relationship. He missed the way, he used to feel about Pink and wanted to feel that way again.

He used to kiss her neck, now he didn’t. Pink understood, what he meant and, to do something about his mood, asked him to remind her by doing that again.

They used to be so in love, they couldn’t get enough of each other. Once he dropped her off at the airport and their goodbye kiss dragged so much out, she missed her flight. They didn’t care much. That just meant, they would have one more night in each other’s arms. She used to make him late for work and sleep in his old t-shirts. Their relationship was passionate and they looked each other with love in their eyes.

They now both wanted to feel like that again, once again hold each other close. By now they just turned off the light and went to sleep. So they promised each other to keep reminding each other of their love. They once again did all the things, they used to do, and that made Pink fall in love with Brad in the first place.

10: ‘A Thousand Years’ by Christina Perri

Pink and the Old Flame are getting married.

As she stands ready to walk up to his side, Pink’s doubt emerges. How could she promise to love him forever, when every relationship thus far has failed? And won’t her fear lead this relationship to fail too?

But she dares to walk closer and sees him standing there, all alone and waiting for her. Her doubts wither away.

She walks up to him. Time stands still, as they promise each other love as eternal as the love that led them here. They promise each other that nothing will take away the bond they share. It has taken them years to here, and nothing will ever keep them apart again.
