2018, chapter 44: ‘So What’ by P!nk (nr. 156)

A marriage has ended. And the wife is ecstatic, even though he was the one to leave. She feels free from him. She’s a rock star. She doesn’t need him. She’ll have more fun without him. She’s gonna go out, get in trouble and start a fight.  She’s alright, just fine, and he’s just a tool anyway…

She goes out. She’s supposed to have a table, but they gave it away to Jessica Simps. No matter. She’ll sit with her long-time friend, Eminem, whom she lovingly calls Drum Boy.

She wonders if her ex will hear her sing about him on the radio and react violently. He might even kill someone. She’d certainly be in trouble. They’re all gonna get in a fight!

She’s not worried though. She can handle him.

She sinks into sadness, thinking about how he was never there. How did she not notice that earlier? She gave him life, her all… He wanted everything for nothing.

But so what? She’s just fine and neither wants nor needs him tonight.

2018, chapter 36: ‘Walk On Water’ by Eminem feat. Beyonce (nr. 148)

Civil war has broken out. On one side is Chainsmoker and Little Mix and their heathens. They champion freedom from attachment and society.

On the other side, of the orderly society, we find Eminem. He is a master of words. He inspires his army trough song. He does so well for years and garners legacy, love and respect. He puts up an exhaustive persona that people look up to – and that he now has trouble living up to. He has set the standard too high for him to keep up. It feels like he hits the mark but when he listens to it after it is shown to the public, he picks it apart. It now sounds like garbage. The rhyme has to be perfect and the delivery flawless. But it can’t always be. And he is terrified to let down people. And people are starting to criticise his songs.

Chainsmoker and Little Mix have noticed this and now make mocking him a part of their strategy. And they succeed in stripping him of his confidence.

So he answers by speaking openly to his supporters. He’s only human just like the rest of them. He can only walk on water when it freezes. He can be juvenile, goof and jest. He is not God-sent like Nas, Rakim, Pac, B.I.G., James Todd Smith or Prince. He makes mistake and feels unworthy of their belief in him. But he’s doing his best to meet their expectations. So he doesn’t care about his opponents’ scorn. The only person who’s scorn would matter, is Deshaun. And even them burning down his Dresden home does nothing to affect him. And no matter how they depict him as a failure, that his popularity is fading, he won’t give up without a fight. He needs this to stay sane. He’ll decide when it’s his final bow. And when he does fall, he will neither cry nor pout.

And he finishes off by saying, that while he is only a man, he is godlike. He, Chainsmoker and Little Mix are not alike. He inspires better than they do. He wrote “Stan”!

2018, chapter 34: ‘Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken’ by P!nk (nr. 146)

A man is trying to convince his lover to commit to a serious relationship. They have disagreed on this for years, and now he sees that it’ll never get better. He tells her, that she either agrees to them to officially becoming a proper couple, or it’s over between them.

He sees this as a personal conflict between the two of them. She, who goes by the name Chainsmoker,  instead hears critique of the movement she started, her ideals and beliefs. And she understands that she can’t get him or anyone to listen to them unless she uses force. She will have to fight, and maybe die, for this. And luckily she has an army.

And so she goes to rally the troops, with Little Mix’ support. She speaks to the hurt they feel, after society has beat and betrayed them, and promises them their share of this new world, she will create.  She and her army cannot be tied down, not by him or anyone, and she cannot be shut up. This world is sick and broken and she will free it by showing it the truth. No matter how hard it is, they have to try, and they will win.

Because her and Little Mix’ hearts are the heart of their movement, and that heart is wild. And wild hearts can’t be broken.
