48: ‘ My Mamma Said’ by Aqua

Despite the unhappiness that infects Steven and Natasha’s marriage, Natasha stays for the sake of their children. She gives up her life so that they can have a happier life.

Gaga, the older daughter, notices her mother becoming more and more unhappy. And she wants to do something about it. She thanks her for doing it but asks her to leave.

Natasha shakes off her concern. She tells her that  the best thing in life was getting Gaga and loving her higher than anything else in this world, and the worst thing in life is getting used to loving somebody higher than anything else in this world, knowing you’re going to lose it all in time. So she wants to do this for her.

It doesn’t get easier, when Rachel, the younger daughter, is actively working with Gaga. Rachel begs for Natasha to not leave.

Natasha stays. She stays and dies a slow death. Her mind wanders to all that way her life could have turned out. She becomes passive and spends most of her time lying around – and Gaga can’t look at her without crying.

Rachel, however, keeps holding on to her mother, begging her not to leave and run away from her mind and life. To release herself from her imagination and be with her family.

Both daughters circle their mother begging her to listen to them.

19: ‘Hurricane’ by Theory Of A Deadman

Brad knew, They were coming. Or rather, he should have known. And he shouldn’t have dragged Pink into it. Now everything is gone and he’s back in the midst of it.

He escaped it before, had gotten away and was safe and happy with Pink. He really thought he was safe and away from it all. He doesn’t understand how They found him.

And this is why he keeps The Young Pink around. If he thought letting her go would do any good, he would. But it won’t. So he’d rather keep her and the memories alive.

14: ‘The Ballad of Serenity’ by Sonny Rhodes

They murdered Pink.

They burned Brad and Pink’s house and lands to the ground.

The heat boiled Brad and Pink’s little lake.

And they took Brad and locked him up in a room so small, he can’t stand up and so dark, he can barely see.

He wasn’t alone. He sits with a few other people. He kept telling himself, this wasn’t real, that he was still at home with Pink. The Young Pink helped him. In his mind, he found serenity in having her by his side and couldn’t bring himself to believe, that it isn’t, despite what the other prisoners said. The prison guards believed, their efforts were fruitless and that he wasn’t coming back to the real world.

And so far they were right. He refused to let go of his little bit of sky in the closed-up-reality – and he felt free. And when he finally realised, that it wasn’t a dream,.he took that feeling with him.

12: ‘Hello’ by Evanescence

Pink has died.

The Old Flame is in denial at first. His mind flashes back to his school days when he first met her. he imagines this young Pink talking with him. She helps him deny Pink’s death and believe, that it’s all a dream. Others try to help him trough it, but he denies their help, believing they’re trying to fix him even though he isn’t broken.

But then he wakes up. Then he knows, it’s all real. But still, The Young Pink stays with him, all that’s left of his life with Pink, only yesterday.

2: ‘Fireflies’ by Owl City

Because of the breakup, Steven dreams himself far away into an insect world. Here he feels happy, saved and loved. When he’s awake, the comparison between the real world and his dream world makes him ever more miserable. This leads him to seek out his dream world more and more. Soon it interferes with his life so much, he has to give up his dream world. The morning after his hard goodbye, a few fireflies flies trough his Window. He keeps them in a jar with air holes in the lid to keep even just a little of his dream world alive.
