2018, chapter 33: ‘Shut Up and Dance With Me’ by Walk The Moon (nr. 145)

A bartender is dating a woman, who has an antagonistic attitude towards commitment. Because of this, their relationship hasn’t progressed in years, even though he wants it to.  He has known from the first time she grabbed his arm and dragged him onto the dance floor, that she was his destiny and that they were bound to be together. He remembers the backless dress and beat up sneaks, she was wearing that night fondly. She looked like a discotheque Juliet teenage dream.

He tells her that she’s holding back. She should give herself to the relationship completely.

She disagrees. She urges him to not look back on his old life and expectations, quit his job and just live and dance with her without commitment.

He sees the future in her eyes. He realises that this is his last chance to change her mind.

105: ‘Live Forever’ by The Band Perry

Will and Taylor are having a baby. This makes Taylor reflect one night.

She has dodged commitment for years, created warlike fights, so she wouldn’t get hurt and fought stability off as if she was a ship unwilling to reach shore.

Now she is ready for commitment. Will will be her only one. This time she wants it all, live forever with him, really let herself fall.

Her love for Will is like a storm inside, an electrified force, a thunder in her heart.

She also thinks about the uncertainty of this prospect. Forever is a long time. This could be a dream, but there are also so many ways, this could end.

But it’s fine. If they stay young and crazy, everything will be fine.

She tells this to Will the following evening.

51: ‘Bleeding Love’ by Leona Lewis

Ink and Harmony got married years ago.

As Harmony predicted, no one believed in their ability to last. And to be fair, Harmony wasn’t a fan of long-term commitment when they met. She had closed herself off from love because she didn’t need the pain from heartbreak. She has tried that once or twice, and it didn’t do her any good. And as time passed, her heart froze.

But with Ink, for the first time, she has found something true. Her heart melted completely.

Everyone thought she had gone crazy when she accepted Ink’s proposal. But she didn’t care. She was in love with him, They tried to get her to back out, so she wouldn’t get herself hurt, but they didn’t understand. It’s not easy for her to open up and they work for it every day for it to work, but it’s worth it.

She loved him so much, she was bleeding love.

They still try to make her doubt, talking so loudly, she has to listen, doubt herself.

But in the end, nothing’s greater than the rush that comes with being in his embrace. His is the face she sees in a world of loneliness.

So she would keep working on keeping the cold from reentering her heart and the doubt to reach her mind.

They would be married, no matter what anyone said.
