103: ‘ Black Or White’ by Michael Jackson

Will is taking Taylor out celebrating the fact that Taylor has become pregnant (he calls it a Saturday bang), something Will sees as a miracle.

Will is black and Taylor is white, and someone comments on that in disbelief. The stranger’s disbelief can’t bring Will down today though. Will declares that they are “one and the same” and that he believes in equality. As long as people are creating a better world for his unborn child, it doesn’t matter if they’re black or white.

His statements about race get a journalist interested. So he does an interview for the Saturday Sun where he talks about equality.

Will is tired of racism. Of all the issues, that divide creates. Of being judged for his colour. And he refuses to think about it and isn’t scared of anyone that would hurt him for it. He knows everyone has a tough time getting by, regardless of colour. And he’ll be their brother no matter if they’re black or white.

What does make him angry is people claiming to agree with him, while clearly judging him by his race.

102: ‘Thrift Shop’ by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis ft. Wanz

Will and Fergie both have more money than they need and spend it on going out to bars and clubsThey both have expensive lifestyles.

They come regularly to the same club. A guy named Macklemore also comes there regularly. And he is not impressed by their money. He buys everything from a thrift shop, in varying degrees of quality. But he still walks into the club confidently, wearing all pink, except for his gator shoes and a slightly smelly leopard mink, and walks up next to Fergie. He’s proud of his frugality. He dresses granddad style and looks incredible doing it.

Fergie laughs at and mocks him.

101: ‘Temporary Home’ by Carrie Underwood

Home. A word that usually brings feelings of belonging. Not always though. Here are six stories about temporary homes:

Story 1
Will often had conflicts with his mother. When he was six, it got so bad, he was temporarily taken away from her. He had to grow up quickly as he was passed from house to house, family to family, school to school. He eventually learned to see that these places were just temporary homes. He didn’t belong there and would soon move on.

Story 2
Sara’s parents had big expectations to their children. This was partly due to their mother once not having a job and had nowhere to go. She was alone with Sara’s big sister, who was just a baby at the time. She wished for a time where she and her baby can find a place in this world, instead of more temporary homes. This shaped her outlook on life.

Story 3
A very old man lies dying in his bed. He’s surrounded by all his loved ones, amongst which an equally very old woman. He tells them not to cry for him. He’ll see them all someday after all. He looks up and says: “I can see Gods face”. This life was his temporary home. And now he’s going to his real home.

100: ‘Milf $’ by Fergie

Will has recently come into money. And he brags about it to his friends, much to his friend’s, Fergie’s, annoyance. She herself has a successful career as a singer and plenty of money herself.  She has just been rejected by an ex and thrown herself into her work and is actually proud of it. But has she ever rubbed that in his face? No, she has not.

So she decides to remind him. She calls his newfound wealth ‘milk money’, meaning he got it the way babies get milk, with the help of others. She, on the other hand, has what she calls ‘milf money’. She worked hard creating a sexy pop star image, and that pays her expensive lifestyle. In other words, she is independent.

And she has thoroughly proven to her parents, that she can do something right.

99: ‘She Hates Me’ by Puddle of Mudd

Mudd meets a woman and falls in love. For about a week and a half, everything is grand.

Then he slowly remembers that he has met her before. In fact, he has dated her before. And he has broken her heart before. And she hates him for it. This is her revenge.

She doesn’t come out of the experience scot-free either, though…

98: ‘Tin Man’ by Miranda Lambert

Fergie went to Evanescence, her ex, without defences and surfaces. She did this to show that she could be real with her now, that she truly loved her. Unfortunately, it was too late. Evanescence had felt lied to and Fergie couldn’t say anything to change that.

Fergie already feels vulnerable when she has her defences up. So a rejection given to her while she’s completely open breaks her heart into pieces. It hurts so badly that she wishes she didn’t have a heart at all. She thinks about the story of the tin man who searched for a heart his whole life but never found one. She compares it to the way she faked her way through life. And she thinks that if he had known how much a broken heart feels he would never want one.

And if he wants one so badly, he can have the pieces of hers. She’d gladly take his armour in return.

97: ‘Hurt’ by Christina Aguilera

Will lost his mother to suicide. This is not a recent thing. What is recent, is him learning what made her commit suicide. He learns that his grandmother had mental problems. Apparently, his mother inherited them.

This makes Will see his mother in a different light.

She was not easy to be around as a child. She was demanding and they would often have conflicts and hurt each other. Now that memory hurts.

He now misses her voice. He wonders if she is looking down upon him. Would she be proud of him? He wishes he could go back in time and spend just one more day with her, hold her in his arms, take the pain away, thank her for everything and forgive all of her mistakes. But it’s dangerous to think like that…
