32: ‘Just Like Fire’ by P!nk

Pink has always had a fire burning in her. She was an ambitious young woman. She wanted it all. She worked hard to become the leader of the Movers and Maids, her dance crew.

As she watches her old home burn down with her dog lying  next to her, she thinks back on the day, she got the position.

She won it in an audition, where many others took part to. Previously they had not had a leader, but now they felt the need for it. But she won the spot, partly because she had already been unofficial leader many times, partly because of the dance, she danced at the audition. She danced like madness and magic,  a colourful charade, with many high kicks to prove her skills as a dancer. She had a lot to prove because the team didn’t think she could lead them properly. They called it impossible. They laughed at her. But she proved them wrong with ease.

Like that day was the beginning of something new, so is this fire. She’s going to disappear before They come back (and she’s kind of have to leave soon actually). She will run her own life instead of having others telling her, what she can and cannot do. No one is going to laugh at her and put out her fire. If she can light up the world up for just one day, like she did at her audition, she’ll be free.

As she’s sitting there she wonders, what’s she’s going to do now. But she assures her dog, that as long, as the two of them are together, trough bad and good weather, they don’t have to worry about a thing.

31: ‘I Write Sins Not Tragedies’ by Panic! At The Disco

Harmony and Ink are talking about the future of their relationship. They talk about the potential of getting married.

Harmony remarks on how everyone would gossip endlessly about her past as a ”whore”, as they would call it.

Ink reassure her by telling her, how he would deal with it by acting it out for her: ”Well imagine, as I’m pacing the pews in a church corridor, and  I can’t help but hear an exchanging of words: ‘What a beautiful wedding!’ says a bridesmaid to a waiter, ‘Yes, but what a shame the poor groom’s bride is a whore.’. I chime in with a ‘Haven’t you people ever heard of closing the goddamn door?!’ ”

His point is that he wouldn’t listen. Having settled that, Ink concludes rationally that they have avoided any problems, they might have had and proposes to Harmony. She happily says yes. They celebrate with champagne.

30: ‘Underneath Your Clothes’ by Shakira

The Leader, privately known as Shakira, is in a loving relationship with a man, whom she calls Honey. He’s a song written by the hands of God and doesn’t understand how she could love him as much as she does.

With him, the most private of her thoughts are safe and hidden. They can be themselves.

Because of him, she forgot the smart ways to keep her operation at Them a secret. And because of him, she is losing the insecurity, that lead her to begin the organisation in the first place.

They belong to each other trough good and bad.

She loves him more than all that’s on the planet, and so much she has to remind herself to move, walk, talk and breath. They’re so connected, they speak with silence. She’s tied up to this love, like a lady is tied to her manners.

She can see an endless story, an entire life, with him. She chooses him over Them and calls him her territory. And she feels, she deserves him, because of that.

I usually (read: have been for about a month or so) link to the beginning of the current story arc, but I’ve realised, I can’t tell exactly where that is until a few chapters/posts in, so that makes no sense. Instead, I’ll suggest a tag for you to click on to get the gist and a place to start reading to understand the context. This week, it’s ”They”.

And I’ll work a reference tool, you can look at, if you don’t have time to read trough the whole thing and/or just wants to get caught up real quick.

29: ‘Funhouse’ by P!nk

After having rekindled the flame in their marriage, Pink and Brad’s house and life became a fun house. They loved each other and were happy with their life, their home and lake. They even had a dog.

Pink didn’t find out about Brad’s secret, and what he had done to keep it before they had been married for a long while and not before it was too late. Not before They were in the house, dressed as clowns in order to be disguised.

They came at different times, while Brad wasn’t there, slowly torturing Pink with information about what Brad had done, echoing voices laughing from behind locked doors.

Their campaign began working. Slowly, like a tickle turns into a rash, Pink began hating Brad. She felt haunted by the evil clowns. One day it became too much. She was all alone. She danced around, watching the photos depicting the lie, she had been living, suddenly noticing a taunting smirk on Brad’s face. This home was already a museum full of ash, so she decided to burn it down. She would rather live out on the street than continue living in this haunted memory of their happy life. She moved out her stuff with the help of her dance crew (known as Movers and Maids) and broke everything else: tore down the photos, mangled the key, tore down the drapes and broke the plates. She counted down and laughed as she dropped the match: ”9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, fun”.

She would find a new place to live, while Brad would think she died in the flames.

28: ‘Genghis Khan’ by Miike Snow

Still heartbroken and not ready to not engage in anything serious, Pink began dating other people after  Brad.

This was not Brad’s plan at all! Sure, he knew he had waived all right to decide or even ask where she went at night, but waves hit his head when he realised, she actually would have others in her bed.

And he doesn’t want her to get it on nobody else, however aware of, how possessive this line of thinking is, he is.

The scene  in his mind of her going out slipped away and he went back to work.

He tried faking being okay with her post-him activities. And fact was, that he was still in with Them and getting no closer to getting out, so he didn’t want to date her right now…

But he couldn’t allow her to be free. However selfish and obscene he would seem, he would tell her to not go out with anyone…

But on the other hand, he could tell her his secret and be free from this…

He sunk back into his chair. He couldn’t make up his mind because he was no longer sure what he wanted.

27:’ Whataya Want from Me’ by Adam Lambert

”Hey, slow it down. Whataya want from me?”

Distortion knew Brad’s secret. He threatened to make it public if he didn’t join Them. Normally Brad wouldn’t have cared. Hell, he’d give the secret away himself. But he had just started dating Pink, the love of his life.

”Yeah, I’m afraid. Whataya want from me.”

The Leader explained that she wanted him to solve problems. This was a difficult job and his secret would be out if he failed at it. But on the other hand, They could save his life.

”Yeah, it’s plain to see that baby you’re beautiful and there’s nothing wrong with you. It’s me, I’m a freak. But thanks for lovin’ me, cause you’re doing it perfectly. Just don’t give up. I’m workin’ it out. Please don’t give in. I won’t let you down.”

When he was doing poorly, The Leader would second-guess her leadership. He assured her, that it was his fault. But if it weren’t for the fact that she could save his life, he wouldn’t play along.

”It messed me up, need a second to breathe. Just keep coming around”

The work is dangerous and without Distortion to keep him safe, it might kill him sooner than his secret.

”I’m workin’ it out. Please don’t give in. I won’t let you down. It messed me up, need a second to breathe. Just keep coming around. Hey, whataya want from me.”

He couldn’t keep dating Pink trough all of this. He would work this out, then get back with her. She would have to understand even if he couldn’t explain, what was going on, and she didn’t like it.

I’ve also realised that my schedule is fuller than I thought (the quality suffered and I was regularly late Thursday), so from now on, I’ll post every Monday.

26: ‘A to the B’ by Infernal

Harmony’s new perspective on guys is a result not only of her youth but also of her first experiences outside the country song of her youth.

At first, she was once coy, using persuasion to get guys. The guys loved it. But it was hard work for her and easy for them . They merely had to show pleasure in seeing her (and they couldn’t hide that anyway, so that was not impressive…). One guy, in particular, took advantage of it. She was head over heels for him, he kept denying he an actual relationship.

She got fed up with that and decided to be demanding and expect the guys to do the work of charming her from then on.

She brings this attitude with her to work, where she manages to combine demands and acting coy to get the boss to treat her well.  She gains control over him as well as other male coworkers with words alone: ”You see, it seems to me that all us strong, independent women make men lazy.  All of a sudden, they think they don’t have to court us properly.  But boys let me tell you something: there’s nothing like a man who knows how to treat a lady.”

They will do anything for her. Cross an ocean, cross a sea…

They take notice of that and promote her to become the boss.

She’s brilliant at it and motivates them to work hard for her.
