21: ‘No’ by Meghan Trainor

Natasha’s youth made her unwilling to being hit on. She considered herself untouchable. It has nothing to do with the individual guys – they might be sweet enough, but it’s simply not something she prioritised.

One time a shy guy attempted, encouraged by his friends. She rejected him before he even had a chance to speak.

This guy, however, wasn’t giving up, even as she kept turning down his compliments and attempts to ask her to dance, believing it to be him using deceiving means to achieve his ends.

He refused to give up, so she responded the way, she always did and encouraged her female friends to respond as well: ”My name is No, my sign is No and my number is No. You need to let it go.”

20: ‘Not Ready To Make Nice’ by Dixie Chicks

Pink’s mother, Dixie, is a singer.

Distortion’s hopping in and out of prison took a toll on her. She chose to love a criminal and now she was paying and would be paying for it forever. They fought a lot over this via letter. He wanted her to get over her hang-ups about his imprisonment because it was never going to change. So she left.

Time was supposed to heal Dixie, but it failed. Pink grew up not actually knowing her father. But Pink loved him so much, that Dixie had to explain her, that she shouldn’t – in fact she ought to hate him. That didn’t exactly make the healing easier.

After Pink dies, Distortion reaches out to Dixie, asking her to forgive and forget.

Forgiveness sounds good. That she could do. Forgetting, however… That she can’t do. She’s still mad as hell and not ready to make it right between them.

And she’ll keep fighting Them and she won’t shut up about what she knows. She has already paid for her silence with her daughter. That too is a price, she’ll keep paying, but now she won’t back down – even at the threat of her own life and even if he thinks, she should.

19: ‘Hurricane’ by Theory Of A Deadman

Brad knew, They were coming. Or rather, he should have known. And he shouldn’t have dragged Pink into it. Now everything is gone and he’s back in the midst of it.

He escaped it before, had gotten away and was safe and happy with Pink. He really thought he was safe and away from it all. He doesn’t understand how They found him.

And this is why he keeps The Young Pink around. If he thought letting her go would do any good, he would. But it won’t. So he’d rather keep her and the memories alive.

18: ‘9 to 5’ by Dolly Parton

Natasha works for Service and Devotion, owned by Them.

This is her daily routine:

She tumbles out of bed and stumbles to the kitchen. Yawning and stretching she tries to come to life. She jumps in the shower and feels the blood start pumping. Out on the street, the traffic starts jumping, as she makes her way to her 9 to 5-job.

She’s ambitious and works hard, but still barely gets by.Her boss gets all the credit, while she and her coworkers and friends, one of which is her friend from her youth, do all the work, leading to them basically putting money in his pocket, making him richer every day. She fully believes, this is his game and doesn’t listen to anyone telling her otherwise.

She both wants and thinks, she deserves a fat promotion, but the boss won’t seem to let her get it (she swears, at it sometimes feels like he’s out to get her personally…).

They allow the workers to dream of a better life but never lets them actually achieve it. They got them exactly where they want them and just need them to dream that they can get further, so they will work harder. They use the boss and his behaviour as a means to shatter the worker’s dreams in front of their eyes.

But They can’t convince Natasha to give up her dream. One day her ship will come in, the tide is going to turn and it’s all going to roll her way.

17: ‘Girl in a Country Song’ by Maddie & Tae

Natasha spent her youth in a country song. There wasn’t much respect in being a girl. There used to be, but now, girls weren’t good for anything other than looking good for the guys. They had to wear a bikini top and painted-on, cut-off jeans and walk around barefooted.

The guys didn’t even call the girls by their names. They simply called out ‘hey girl’, when they wanted them over to sit with them on their tailgate. The girls were really just supposed to climb up in the guys’ trucks, keep their mouths shut and ride along, whether they wanted to or not – and consider themselves lucky to get that.

Natasha and her friend weren’t going to take it anymore. They rejected any advances and announced their displeasure with the system publicly by mocking it.

16: ‘I wanna have your babies’ by Natasha Bedingfield

Natasha meets Steven in Vegas. They spend time together there and think, that will be it. It isn’t. They become a couple.

Natasha wants to bear his children. She doesn’t want to risk losing him, so she buttons her lips. She knows, it would scare him if knew just how badly she wanted this and how far she had thought ahead (she has already picked out the church, they’ll attend, what the children’s names  will be and which schools, they’ll go to).

Sometimes she just can’t contain her feelings. When this happens, she pretends, it was a meant as a joke.

She uses methods belonging to her church to wish for him to get ready for her to tell: lighting candles and throwing coins into a fountain. She doesn’t want to say anything to Steven before she’s sure, he’ll respond positively to the idea.

15:’10,00 Nights of Thunder’ by Alphabeat

When Brad and Pink started dating, they already knew, their love is eternal. He wanted a serious, long-lasting relationship. She was looking for a decent boy. They bonded over a love of old media, books, movies and music alike. Their passion was great, because they always felt, they had to give back, what the other gave them.
