2018, chapter 5: ‘Don’t Forget To Remember Me’ by Carrie Underwood (nr. 117)

This is a flashback to when Taylor was an innocent 18-old, moving out from her parents’ house. She grew up in a religious home celebrating The Lord by praying and reading the Bible. Taylor loved her parents, but by now she needed to get out and be on her own. Still, the departure was teary for both mother and daughter.

Her mum kept on talking in an attempt to put off their goodbye. She took her hands and said: “Baby, don’t forget; Before you hit the highway, you better stop for gas. There’s a 50 in the ashtray, in case you run short on cash. Here’s a map and here’s a Bible, if you ever lose your way. Just one more thing before you leave; Don’t forget to remember me.”

Taylor moved into a downtown apartment. It was lonely, there were bills on the counter and she missed home.

She called her mother every Sunday. She always told her, she was alright, even when she wasn’t. She ended one call by saying: “Hey momma, don’t forget to tell my baby sister that I’ll see her in the fall. And tell Memaw that I miss her… Yeah, I should give her a call. And make sure you tell Daddy that I’m still his little girl… Yeah, I still feel like I’m where I’m supposed to be. Don’t forget to remember me.”

One night she felt alone by herself. So she did something she hadn’t done in a while; she leaned by the bed and prayed to The Lord: “Lord, I feel so small sometimes in this big ol’ place… Yeah, I know there are more important things, but don’t forget to remember me.”

Also, I’m very sorry for the delay. My life has been a bit crazy the last few days.

2018, chapter 4: ‘I Don’t Have A Favorite Pony’ by Hank Green (nr. 116)

This takes place before Perry met Taylor.

He was 31 years old. A cartoon about ponies, named Equestria, was everywhere on the internet and had been for six months. It was a show for little girls, but everyone seems to be obsessed with it and asking him, who his favourite pony was.

Now, Perry had his self-respect. He wasn’t going to watch it. So obviously, he didn’t have an answer.

But then one night, he figured that since his insomnia wouldn’t let him sleep anyway, so he might as well try watching it.

He still didn’t have an answer though… Because he couldn’t choose.

Dash the Pegasus had rainbow hair and the cutest cutie mark. Apple Jack was the strongest mare and was always working so hard. Flutter Shy had a Marilyn vibe. When it came to the beauty prize, Rarity had already won. Pinky Pies excitement could fuel a jet plane. But Twilight was the nerdiest, and that went a long way.

Also, he was still embarrassed by the fact that he had now seen it and liked it – and continued to watch it during the next day.

He started wondering. His goal was to make this a better planet. He did not take this lightly, and if he worked hard on it all day, maybe he could. But instead, he continued watching and trying to decide which of the six fictional ponies he liked best.

But the problems were so much simpler in Equestria and those in the real world had complicated solutions. Watching the show was easier to deal with.

He continued watching all day. By the end of the day, he had watched all of the episodes. He only arrived at one answer: he preferred Spike, who wasn’t even a pony.

And yes, ‘favorite’ is written in American English in the title and in British English in the text, but in my hybrid English, I have a preference for British, so that’s what I’m going with, whenever I have the choice.

2018, chapter 3: ‘Stay In The Dark’ by The Band Perry (nr. 115)

Taylor is on a revenge missionShe has developed a relationship with a kind man. His name is Perry,  he is a mute insomniac and he is completely in love with her.

He cherishes her good moments when they are lovers and close, so he convinces her to stay at his place.

When she moves on to continue her revenge mission, he goes with her. He wonders where but doesn’t actually care. He just wants to stay in the dark, holding her close behind closed curtains. It doesn’t matter that he is leaving everything and everyone behind.

He knows rationally that this is crazy, but his heart is in charge – and evidently hates him.

2018, chapter 2: ‘Bitch’ by Meredith Brooks (Nr. 114)

Taylor is following her ex, the father of her child. She is an outcast, living outside society, unseen by most.

The exception being this one kind man. One man who takes pity and decides to help her back on her feet. She isn’t particularly nice to him. But he doesn’t care. He keeps coming back.

One day, he catches her in a weak moment, crying about the loss of her old life, her ex-boyfriend who betrayed her, and the child she no longer sees.

He sees this as a sign that underneath this hateful, angry person there is a sweet and kind woman.

She assures him that there isn’t. She’s a confusing mess of emotions, good and bad. She’s a bitch and a lover, a child and a mother, a sinner and a saint. He’ll have to accept that.

It seems he does because he keeps coming back. She begins to accept him but warns him that hanging out with her means he’ll have to be a stronger man. She changes from day-to-day.

He keeps coming back. She actually starts liking him and starts being nice to him once in a while, sometimes his hell, sometimes his dream.

He still tries to save her, to get her back to society. She tells him he can’t. She does however like having him around, helping her out.

They become occasional lovers. She starts helping him in return. She tells him her whole story.

2018, chapter 1: ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ by Gotye feat. Kimbra (nr. 113)

A woman is stalking in the shadows. A woman named Taylor. This is a new Taylor born from things done to the old Taylor. She still sometimes thinks back to what happened.

They had a baby. It had changed things. The relationship had always had issues – which relationship doesn’t? She was sometimes a little crazy and overreacted. But he would let her know when it happened. And he told her that he was so happy with her, he could die.

But along with committing to the baby, she committed to keeping their relationship alive. And she started noticing that he often refused to listen and blamed her for being crazy even when she wasn’t. She became more and more aware of this and confronted him about it. He saw it as her changing and didn’t like it. He missed the docile way she used to be. He ended up promising to get over it, though.

He didn’t. Instead, Taylor felt more and more lonely in his company and was used to the sadness when Will finally left her.

But that wasn’t it. She was fine and agreed that they could still be friends and raise their child together.

No, what put her over the edge was when that he had lied about wanting to be friends. He cut her off completely. Worse still, he had others her throw out and made it impossible for her to contact him.

He made her an outcast – a stranger. And now she wants revenge. He is no longer the Will she knew and loved.

I could have added a lot more links to this but chose not to. This is a beginning just as much as a continuation and thus needs to be able to stand alone and be an origin for further adventures.

Should you want to know more about her background, follow the tags around to figure out what happened before (I recommend Taylor and Will and Taylor).
