71: ‘Beez in the Trap’ by Nicki Minaj Ft. 2 Chainz

Some find value in religion. Others in meaningless.

Nicki and Chainz find value in money. They are in a relationship.

They are ruthless in getting it, doing whatever it takes, wherever they need to be to get it. At the moment, this is selling drugs and acting as pimps. Chainz also raps.

They are careless spending it because they have so much of it. They smoke and drink a lot.

This way of living does not give them many fans. Quite the opposite really. But people aren’t vocal about this because this tends to end badly for them. Nicki is quite violent and likes to beat people up herself.

70: ‘A Song About an Anglerfish’ by Hank Green

Some people aren’t burdened with worry. One of these is Hank, who has found his peace from observing the life of a anglerfish.

He is bald and horribly lonely. His life has been a strife. He has been burned and spurned. He had misfortune in the world of love.

But then he found out about the angler fish.

It lives in the deep of the ocean and lives exclusively of fish. Like him, it is bald and friendless. It procreates by the male biting onto and melting into her skin, so the male is literally always by the female’s side until both die.

But since this is the only life they know, they have to be happy, because what else could they be?

This has kept him content for years. Because if he is in pain all the time, can he really call it pain? You simply don’t feel what is always there.

69: ‘Broken’ by Seether & Amy Lee

The Creator Of It All, known to her worshippers as Mother Mary, helps her worshippers by appearing in front of them, when they are in need of inspiration and helping them handle their issues. However, she does not concern herself with what happens next – as long as her worshippers are happy. This does not always garner good results. This is among the concerns, her only son, Abraham, has.

Wanting to please her son, she tries to refocus and fix the world.

She succeeds in making the worst issues go away.

This is a lot of work, though. She no longer has the time to help her worshippers when they need her. They start missing her – and she misses them. But now the worst is over and she should have more time for them again. Problem is that their faith in her is fading.

68: ‘Say Say Say’ by Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney

Dre, a worshipper of Mother Mary, The Creator Of It All, needs her to inspire him to move on with his life after loss and help him with his music. Dre has lost his son, more recently lost a woman, whom he loved, and in general, doesn’t know what to do with his life and creative work.

But unlike so many times before, Mother Mary does not appear before him. In desperation, he starts praying, not a normal practice in the belief in her, and continues doing so every day for years for years, but at no points does she appear, no matter how much he cries. Slim, his close friend, supports him in this. He starts to lose faith in her. They love her dearly but begins to feel that she is playing with them. Maybe she has become disappointed in them and that is why she is ignoring them.

They beg her to appear. They don’t care what she says at this point, as long as she shows that she hears them. They will even give her sacrifices, if it means, she won’t have left them.
